The father makes more than enough money to support the only child we have. He has taken me to court on 3 other times concerning this matter and the judge did not see a need for a decrease in child support. He can always afford a lawyer unlike myself. He is self-employed and makes over $100,000 a year and he is $34,000 in arrears. This is the reason I want to prepare a quality objection letter to have my day in court. He also has 4 vehicles and own 2 semi trucks.

The only way to find out would be to call your county bar association or legal aid.

The county you live in should have a department of social services, and an ADA who is assigned to that department. Their job is to assist custodial parents in receiving child support. They help with arrears, and can attach wages or put leins on those fancy vehicles. They can also recommend the father be held in contempt of court and violation of a court order. Their services are free.

“Pro bono” does not mean “free”. It means “for the public good”. Lawyers will sometimes take a “pro bono” case if the injustice is so bad that society in general will benefit from a successful outcome.

I think you really mean “legal aid”, and you raise an interesting point. You do not have a legal issue, if he owes you $34,000. You have a collections issue. The vehicles might be heavily financed, for all you know.

For $34,000, you don’t need a lawyer. You need a collection agency.
