basically a film that covers the object and adherers to it as it shrinks…to redo the trim in my car????

    Sounds pretty unlikely but I wonder if you could use stick-on shelf liner, I’ve seen it come in a wood grain pattern. If you need to shrink it, though, I’m afraid the wood grain pattern would all mush together into a brown glob.

    I was at a big mass-market home improvement store the other day and saw special squeegie-looking tools with a swirled wood grain imbedded for making fake wood patterns with paint, that’s another idea.

    Lots of them around. I did a Yahoo! search for woodgrain vinyl films.
    http://www.rvinyl.com/ is one source that offers automotive vinyl trim.
