Yes. You can hurt yourself pretty bad. If you must break it, use your head not your fist. Use a rock or something. And don’t break the little side windows, the cost more. Or even cheaper I hear if you get AAA membership they will unlock it for you. I even seen police open them up.

I once punched out a windshield on a car with one punch and nothing wrapped around my hand. I would think that the side windows would be WAY easier.

Why not just get a locksmith to come and get the keys out? I’m sure it’d cost less than repairing a car window!

Car windows are very strong. Your hand does not generate that much force plus is spread out across your whole fist. You need to have a much heavier force or concentrate the force to a much smaller point. A hammer would break the window. Because because of its weight it can generate quite a bit of force into a fairly small point. You can buy a safety / escape kit for your car that includes a small hammer with a point on it that will easily break a car window. They are intended to be used to escape out of a car that has gone into water since you cant open the door till the car is full of water and that may be too much time to wait for the occupants.
