Awesome Car Decals, Car Stickers, Car Wraps, and Car Tattoos

for school, we have to build and paint a model car and i was given jeff gordons # 24 dupont monte carlo race car. my teacher said i have to spray paint it and make it unique but i have to put all the decals on (those little sticker thingys) so what colour can i paint it so those are still noticable?

   Delamothe

   Plastic or die cast, the most important thing to do is to prime the body of the car. Make sure you get a primer that is compatible with the paint you are wanting to spray. For example if you buy Testor’s paint, make sure you use Testor’s primer, etc.
   Do not mix enamels with lacquers, or urethanes (water based paints). Use one type of paint all the way, and make sure you have a primer that is compatible with it.

   I know this sounds like a lot of stuff to think about, but it is important if you want to achieve a great looking model.

   Use a wire clothes hanger and bend it like a pair of tongs so that you can support the car body with it as you paint. This way you can hold it in different angles to get the sides, top, etc.

   Let the primer dry for about two hours, then paint the model. Let the paint dry for about two days. After that, you should be able to apply your water slide decals.
   There is a solution you can buy at a hobby shop – it’s a clear liquid called “Decal Set”. It helps the decals adhere better to the surface, and take the shape of the model’s contours. What you do is apply the decal on the car body, and once you have it where you neeed it to be, you apply a few drops of the decal set on it.

   Good luck with your project. I feel like I am giving you a lot of stuff to think about, but everything in life is about a proper technique in order to do things correctly.    I hope that you take an interest in the hobby and do it beyond just a class project. Model building is a lot of fun for all ages, and it is a great way to spend some relaxing time.
