It said, “Body peircings saved my life.” The picture was of a hand and forearm with a nail going through the wrist. It was adhered to the very center of their rear windsheild I, an atheist, was VERY disturbed by this image. I have issues with even looking at my own wrist, however, so I was wondering what other thoughts people had on the sticker?

    Sick.

I’ve never understood the fascination with the suffering-on-the-cross image of Jesus.

I’ve seen it before. It’s just trying to make Jesus seem cooler, I guess.

Christians have no concept or understanding that some of their depictions of Jesus seem very bloody and violent to those who don’t share their faith. If anyone else put pictures of a half-naked, beaten, bloody man up for public view, they’d probably be quite offended.

They have a right to their own beliefs and depictions…but making them public is not going to win anyone over to their way of thinking…it probably will turn more people off than anything else.

Pics like that should be saved for internal use by those who are already Christians, IMO.

as Christ’s crucifixion and resurrection are central to my faith, I understand the message behind the picture. Would I have chosen that method to convey my beliefs and faith? No, but it doesn’t disturb me.

LoL… I love how Christians think that out of all the things Jesus allegedly said and did, that the image he most wants to represent him is being tortured up on the crucifix… that would be like people remembering slavery by wearing whips that are ripping gaping cuts into some black dudes back. Can you be any more idiotic?

Well, I guess you never saw the “bigger picture” or “the REST of the story!”

Jesus died for your sin. He made it possible for you to receive an unmerited, undeserved pardon from God because (as the Scriptures foretold), “But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed. ” and again, “they pierced my hands and my feet.”

So, the piercing He took was for ME. If YOU don’t want to accept His offer, that’s YOUR decision, and you can face the Judge without Jesus by your side. But without Jesus, you don’t have a leg to stand on, since we (you) ARE guilty!

So, it was through and because of those very “body piercings” that God was able to forgive me, since Jesus took upon Himself what should have been mine (and yours).

Don’t criticize others for accepting a pardon paid in full, just because YOU don’t accept it. (Good Grief!)

christians have an odd sense of marketing strategy in my opinion.

I believe in the message of the decal, and it would not disturb me. I personally do not put decals on my vehicles, but it’s their car and they have the right to do it if they want to. I have seen decals that did disturb me, but they were usually vulgar or in bad taste. Nevertheless, it wasn’t up to me to pass judgement on the people who had them.

sounds like a peircing person using this as a joke on jesus.

the real bumper sticker would be a play on how the m&m’s keep falling through the holes in his hands.

something like “enjoy the pleasures jesus never could” as an M&M’s ad.

WOW!!!! OK, I will assume that some who have answered so far are not Christian. I have seen this sticker myself. Yes, body piercing did save me. It is to remember that Jesus was pierced, and crucified to die on that cross so that there was finally the ultimate sacrifice (atonement) for the sin of all mankind. I think it is fine because it is truth. Finally, truth. I love my Lord and I know how much He sacrificed so that I could live eternally after this life here on earth is over. When I did not know what the bible said, I still had a hunger to know God. Then I started reading and studying and He opened up a new world of wonder to me. He has taken me through so many trials and given me a peace that surpasses all understanding. If you are a non believer, that is your choice. I respect that. But, please, respect Christians when they post things. God gave us a free will, and we have a right to make choices. I chose God. I will never regret that. I feel so free sometimes it is unreal, even in the midst of illness, financial problems. What I am really trying to say is that please do not be offended by that sticker. It really happened even if you don’t believe why it did. He WAS pierced. For me. And for you. Have a wonderful and blessed day. May the joy of the Lord be with you, even if you are not aware. In love. :)

So I am reading all of these posts and I am shocked! People, Jesus DID get pierced! No, I would not put that sticker on my car. I know he was pierced, and so do all of you!! It is not something that is cute or cool, it is a fact. It tears my heart to know He had to go through that. I am just grateful for the love He showed. Until you know him as your savior, you will never understand. The bible says, natural man cannot understand the things of the spirit. I DO get repulsed when I see a young person full of piercings. They are doing it to be cool. Jesus did it for your sorry life. And mine.

You have a problem looking at your wrist? Why?

I’m disturbed when I see kids wearing sme of the clothes that are popular these days. I dont think I am “old” (28) but when you have 12 year olds scantily dressed shopping for more “clothes” with their moms who are trying to dress ‘cool’ then I am disturbed. However, they probably like the way they are dressed and who am I to question their choice of clothing.

Who are we to question how someone wants to “dress” their car?

1 Corinthians 1:18-19 For the word of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God. For it is written, “I WILL DESTROY THE WISDOM OF THE WISE, AND THE CLEVERNESS OF THE CLEVER I WILL SET ASIDE.”

    On the other hand….

I don’t like those type of stickers myself. I never put any sticker on my car, I especially dislike the one that says: Christians aren’t perfect, just forgiven.

Because, when my car was stalled at an intersection, a family with christian fishes and that sticker on their car, honked the horn as they road raged around me… (I don’t know, maybe his wife was in labor or something), but I was just coming home from a bible study where I was asked to leave because I was too old! (It was a teen bible study)…

Anyway, I was really sad and an atheist with a “darwin” fish on his car, pulls up behind me and helps me get my car to the side of the road. He even helped me install a new belt. (which is why it stalled). I never saw any of those people again, but it made quite an impression on me.

It’s a marketing ploy to make christianity “edgier.” Unfortunately it’s in very poor taste and it just makes the dipshiits who created it look like they’re trying too hard to reach out to the younger people. That’s the best they could come up with? That’s pretty disturbing.

It’s like the lame NOTW decals I see everywhere. It’s all a big scam to reach out to the kids by begging them to accept christianity – making them believe church can be cool by putting a Hot Topic design on their merchandising. How low can they get?
