here the new utah license plate and OMG the brown color is so ugly!

http://z.about.com/d/saltlakecity/1/7/S/d/1/P4SKIplate.jpg

my friend can photoshop this and make the brown goes away by applying the blue color decal on it and yes it will have “utah” on it and will be on the plate first and then the year and month sticker on top of the decal.

the question is can i make a decal to cover the brown area but not covering the numbers and letters and also the year and month sticker will be on top of the decal.???

can i do that or it totally non legal?

ALTERATION of ANY license plate is illegal. Check your state’s statutes.

Unfortunately, no. Altering or masking license plates is illegal and will get you a traffic ticket.

it is a crime to alter any license plate in anystate. go to http://www.utah.gov they do have more than color.

    http://dmv.utah.gov/license.html

alter it and you could give up the right to drive for a while and go to jail.

Yeah it is ugly… It is illegal to change the colors on the plate, BUT, you may get away with it. It really depends (cop).

I cut the sides of my motorcycle plate (Utah) so that it would fit on the rear fender of my dirtbike without sticking over. All letters/numbers are there, just trimmed off the sides to make it as narrow as possible. 3 years no problems, but then i didn’t change the color
